Latest Adobe Camera Raw Update for Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 is available now (Adobe Camera Raw 7.4). These cameras files will start working in 11 version of Photoshop Elements, so if you are having any of these cameras and not using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, you have following two options -

1. Get 11th version of Adobe Photoshop Elements OR
2. Only shoot in JPEG (which may not be a good idea of utilizing real power of your camera)

How to update Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 with Adobe Camera Raw 7.4 -

- Go to Help Menu of Organizer or Editor
- Check for Updates
- You will see Adobe Camera Raw 7.4 update
- Apply this update, restart your application and all raw files will start working on your software.

Adobe Camera Raw 7.2 is available for Adobe Photosop Elements 11

Latest Adobe Camera Raw Update 7.2 is only available for 11th version of Adobe Photoshop Elements.

How to update Adobe Camera Raw 7.2 - go to Help Menu and check for updates and install.

If you have other version of Adobe Photoshop Elements - Use DNG convertor to use photographs shpt with latest cameras which have support in Adobe Camera Raw 7.2 only.

Using Raw Files of Nikon D800 and Canon 5D markIII in Adobe Photoshop Elements

Many times we see different threads on Adobe Forums and Elements-Village about using raw files of different camera models by Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax or Sony etc. This article is specially for special users of Nikon D800 and Canon 5D MarkIII. If you are using any version less than 10.0 of Adobe Photoshop Elements, you can't use the raw files in your software. But don't worry, there is a workaround to it and you would be able to use with earlier versions as well. We shall talk about it in later part of the article. 

For folks who are having Adobe Photoshop Elements, just follow below mentioned steps to use raw files of Nikon D800 and Canon 5D MarkIII in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.0 -

1. Go to Help Menu

2. Check for Updates

3. You will see an update 'Adobe Camera Raw 6.7'

4. Apply it.

5. Relaunch Adobe Photoshop Elements and you are ready to use Raw files generated through your new cameras.

Now how about earlier versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements? Download DNG Converter from Adobe.com and convert your Raw files into DNG which can be handled through your versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Why Adobe Camera Raw opens up in full screen by hiding Winfows Task-Bar || How to open Adobe Camera Raw Dialog in Full Screen for better Processing control

 Recently I found someone asking about a way to open Adobe Camera Raw in Full Screen, to better utilize whole monitor screen to process Raw files. 




Bujt many times I have seen this question is different form - Why my Adobe Camera Raw Window opens up in Full Screen and also hides Windows Task-Bar? Anyways, answer is same for both the questions. There is a control which can be used to expand Adobe Camera Raw Window to Full Screen and Collapse to default size. Please see highlightd control in RED. This control helps in toggling between Full Screen View and Standard Size of Adobe Camera Raw.

Apart from supporting new Cameras in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.0, here are few added changes you will notice in Adobe Photoshop Elements -

 1. Improved Noise Reduction Controls with more flexibility in handling Luminance and Color Noise. Just check out screenshot shared below -

With Adobe Camera Raw 2012, we get Luminance Detail, Luminance Contrast & Color Detail sliders to get appropriate contrast & details after appying noise reduction. All these sliders need to be used in sync to get best results.

2.  In Adobe Camera Raw 6.7, you will find Red Eye Removal controls on right, instead of fly-out menu on top. Just an interface change. Please see image below for more clarity.

3. In last tab of Adobe Camera Raw 6.7 dialog, you see a new dropdown menu which shows 3 options - 2003, 2010 & 2012. This is something interesting and we will try to share detailed information in separate article on same blog. If you are not using Lightroom4 or Photoshop, you need not to think about it. Here is how it looks like -

Some basic points to note about it for now -

a. By default all new photographs are opened in Process-Version 2010.

b. If you open a file which is editied in Lightroom4 or CS5(ACR6.7) or CS6 using PV2012, you will see the changes in ACR dialog of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.0.

c. Whenever we open a photograph in PV2012, some of the sliders will not be accessible and need to go back to PV2010 in Elements.

PSE-Organizer hangs on on clicking 'Browse' button in APD (Adobe Photo Downloader) || MAC

With recent update of Adobe Camera Raw, some of the folks are facing a problem on MAC machines having 9th version of Adobe Photoshop Elements. It happens with folks, who use Adobe Photo Downloader to download and import files into Elements Organizer. This is happening with people who have updated to Adobe Camera Raw 6.5. Let's know about the exact problem that is happening as of now -

Do you want to see thumbnails of Raw files in your windows explorer only !

At times, when we have to look at photographs in Windows explorer it's difficult to see thumbnails for our raw files. Organizer is of course a way to explore the files but at times needs is there to go to explorer and figure out some files.


Microsoft has just released "Microsoft Camera Codec Pack" which allows us to see thumbnails in explorer only. Please have a look at the link shared below and share your feedback through comments.

Date/Time problem with latest update of Adobe Camera Raw

Recently a problem has been discovered where time shown for Raw files is not correct. Problem is clearly visible to folks who shoot RAW + JPEG. In this case JPEG and RAW have different times, due to which order changes drastically in Elements Organizer.


Adobe has recently released an article to go to back to ACR 6.3 for some time and wait for next update to come. They are trying to fix this problem in upcoming update.


As of now, this is main concern for people who have following cameras - 

• Canon EOS 600D (Rebel T3i / Kiss X5 Digital)
• Canon EOS 1100D (Rebel T3 / Kiss X50 Digital)
• Fuji FinePix S200 EXR
• Fuji FinePix F550 EXR
• Fuji FinePix HS20 EXR

Folks with these cameras need to wait for next update because ACR 6.3 will not work for your raw files. if you click JPEG, then it's not an issue for you.

And note that files need to be re-imported into Organizer to get correct dates. Not all files but the only sets which are imported after updating ACR 6.4/6.4.1
