How to switch off Face Recoginition in Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0

In past few days I have been seeing folks who are done with most of the face recognition activities in their old catalogs and want to switch it off. There are few cases, where folks don't want to use Face recognition because its not an important workflow for them. Because again and again rectangles keep popping up on top of photographs in Elements Organizer.

To switch off Face Recognition in Elements Organizer, follow these steps -

1. Launch Elements Organizer
2. Go to Edit Menu and Click on 'Preferences'
3. It will launch Preferences dialog. Now click on Media-Analysis tab.
4. Make sure that option for "Analyze Photos from People Automatically" is unchecked.

Organizer is very sluggish or slow in Adobe Photoshop Elements

Hi Friends,

As you know that Organizer provide very rich functionalities for organizing our photographs, videos and audio files. Since it keeps record of huge metadata and operations over the years, there can be a possibility of some performance degradation which can be handled/avoided many ways...

I always recommend Catalog Repair time to time, which will avoid any technical anomalies in your catalog. If you have been using single catalog for a long time and upgraded from various versions of Photoshop elements, I would recommend to create one another and make it a habit to have different catalogs for various events you hoot... Its completely my personal opinion for better management.. I create one catalog in an year and since I shoot lot of raw photographs, sometimes I need to create many catalogs depending upon the need...

If you are currently seeing some performance hit then of course you need some corrective action rater than preventive activities which we discussed above... Here are few thing which may help you :

Organizer preferences delete:

We would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

1.       Exit Elements Organizer and Photoshop Elements Editor.
2.       Browse to the location ->  C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\9.0\Organizer and delete the files “Status.dat” and “psa.prf”.
3.       Re- launch Elements Organizer.

Further, Please follow the steps mentioned below:

Auto Analyzer Turn OFF

a)       Launch Elements Organizer
b)      Go to Edit > Preferences
c)       Click Auto Analyzer Options. De-select “Analyze all media in Catalog Automatically” and “Recognize People Automatically” options.

I know many people have done many experiments around this topic and would want to know about those... So I will keep updating this post regularly. Please comment back in case some other method better worked for you !!!

ORGANIZER is available on Windows as well as MAC with ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 9.0

Many times I have seen people dreaming about ORGANIZER instead of Bridge with ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 9.0... Organizer was there on windows and CS-Bridge was shipped with earlier versions of ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS... THis time Adobe decided to have Organizer with Editor on Windows as well as MAC...

On top of that it has very good integration with iPHOTO which is a native application of MAC and a part of iLIFE bundle..

ORGANIZER is an application used for better orgaizing your photographs, audio and videos and its also part of Premiere Elements... PREMIERE ELEMENTS is also available on Windows as well as on MAC with ORGANIZER... So it gives a complete solution to a person who has camera with video capture capabilities...

ORGANIZER is very popular application with great organizing capabilities with albums, tags, metadata-searches etc. There are lot many sharing services available in Organizer which includes, Sharing to FLICKR, FACEBOOK, PHOTOSHOP.com etc...

Apart from that, it has various automatic mechanisms for better organization like Face Recognition which automatically detects faces and try to identify who is that person, AUTO ANALYZER which helps in categorization of various files according to their properties and SYNC ENGINE which helps in taking backup of your data on Photoshop.com automatically as you add more media or edit somethings...

Organizer has various working views including Thumbnail View which shows all the files in Organizer in a particular order according to the order preferences selected... like 'Oldest First', 'Newest first', Custom Order etc... folder view which help in exploring all the files as per their original folder hierarchy which is very helpful sometimes... There is a date view which helps in organizing photographs according to days, Months or Years... So for example, if you want to see photographs of all your Birthday parties, just click on the date of your Birth and you will see all the pics clicked on that date...

Organizer is very rich in terms of functionality and it upon us how we can leverage its capabilities to get wonderful organizing experience...
